Reasons to visit De Kelders in summer

Summer brings with it gorgeous summer weather here in the Overberg region of South Africa. The Fynbos wild flowers are colouring the roadsides and hills with pink, yellow and red and the Cape birdlife is out in force enjoying these beautiful flowers as much as we are. The sunsets over the ocean have been wowing our Cliff Lodge guests, and the clear blue skies and warmer weather is a real treat after the winter chill. We are enjoying another fantastic whale season in De Kelders with Southern Right Whales coming to the calmer waters of Walker Bay to mate, give birth and to feed their new babies. Whale watching from the deck of Cliff Lodge while drinking one of our famous cappuccinos or a glass of the local Overberg wine is a memory to treasure. Boat based whale watching is an unforgettable experience as these gentle giants are as curious about us as we are about them, and so get very close to the boats. Shark lovers have been experiencing the thrill of seeing these apex predators up close and personal on the shark diving boats in Gansbaai, and our more adventurous guests are exploring the beaches of the nearby nature reserve on horseback. Have a look at this video of some of the activities you can enjoy while staying with us. It’ll have you packing your bags and heading to De Kelders!
